Appointment Moved

My doctor's appointment got moved from Tuesday to Thursday. I just mention it because I know people will ask about it. I won't be seeing Dr. Dix, as she is off this week. This week is the glucose test, so not too exciting for Geoff. He won't come with me, it would be a waste of his time, and he had to miss going to work last week because he was sick.

I think Elijah must have given me super powers because the smoke in the casino didn't bother me at all, I didn't catch whatever Geoff has, and I was able to win money in Vegas. He also must like the sound of Honey purring because if she's near me and purring, he starts to kick.

My mom sent some baby stuff down with Lisa. We got a plush giraffe piggy bank for Elijah's room. It plays It's A Small World. We also got a giraffe blanket, and a Parents To Be ornament for our Christmas tree. Lisa provided me with munchies (which are all gone) and some clothes I'll be able to wear after the baby comes. Some of the tops I can wear now, which is awesome.

Lisa commented that I'm big enough, even though I hit the 6 month mark last week. I'm sure I'll just continue to get bigger. I am a little nervous about the weigh in on Thursday, but when I weighed myself in Vegas, the number was pretty good. You can see pictures from Vegas on my website.

The prenatal massage was amazing. I could go for another one. I didn't realize how tense my back and shoulders were.

I've noticed my hands are unbearably dry. I'm constantly putting lotion on. Speaking of... I should go put some on now.

New Experiences

I'm always joking with Melissa about how her being pregnant makes me think of the classic scene in Alien where the little alien pops out of the guys chest, while the people around him are helpless to do anything about it. Never have I felt more that way than last night. Just before we are about to fall asleep, Elijah begins his usual kicking routine. Melissa puts my hand on her tummy where he is kicking and I wait. WHOA! Not at all like the first time I felt it, this time it is serious. My hand is literally pushed up by his little feet. I think that Melissa must feel a little like a punching bag that works from the inside out. To make matters worse, this morning Melissa has a leg cramp and sits straight up in bed. I don't know what's going on until she tells me that she has a leg cramp. I try to rub her leg (picture the hardest thing you can imagine then multiply that by 2 and you'll get an idea of how tense the muscle was), but apparently that only makes it worse. So I'm pretty useless. Finally she is able to stretch it out and get back into bed, but it's 6:15 and I can't get back to sleep. Seems like this baby is intent on disrupting our sleep habits already. What a night!

Everything Is A-OK

The echo went well, everything looks good. I just love watching Elijah wiggle around. His heart rate was 135, which they said was good.

My next appt is November 30. I'll be doing the glucose test (yeah!). That's all that's new from here.

Thank yous

One of Geoff's old co-workers from UCI sent us a baby gift in the mail! It was quite a surprise to see a package arrive from Amazon that I didn't order. I eventually surmised it must have been a gift off the baby registry, and it was. I just didn't expect a gift from Anna & Francesco. Here's what they sent:

It was very thoughtful of them. I am amazed at how the birth of a child gets everyone excited. We've gotten several small items from Geoff's co-worker Tammy, that she no longer needed. I worry that Elijah's small room isn't going to hold all this stuff. Well, the bassinet from Cindy will go into our room at some point, probably once we set up the crib.

We're all doing great. Honey woke up Geoff and Elijah the other night with her purring. She was curled up between us in bed, and Elijah could hear her purring and started kicking. It would have been funny if it weren't 4 am. We're a happy family. :)

Elijah's Echo Scheduled

I just wanted to post that we have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday. This is Elijah's echo cardiogram, since Goeff was born with a heart murmur, they just want to be sure Elijah's heart is healthy. I'm not worried. Nothing showed up on the last ultrasound, and though these people are specialists, I don't think I have cause to be worried.

I'm having a really hard time signing up for prenatal classes. The person in charge of it isn't returning my phone calls, so I'm wondering if I should just sign up at a different hospital. I may call again today to let them know this person isn't returning my calls. Perhaps they can shed light on it (like maybe this lady has just been on vacation the last 2 weeks).

I bought a cute little onesie last week. Geoff keeps telling me people love buying baby clothes so I don't need to. But I just wanted to have one thing I could say I picked out. :) It has trucks on it.

Old Navy has this cute sherpa jacket (for me), but I'm waiting for the price to drop some more (I hope it does). I need to focus more on Christmas shopping rather than clothes shopping for me. But I did show Geoff a great sweater at Motherhood he could get me for my birthday.

This morning, we could see Elijah moving. He was kicking and you could see my belly moving. It was quite a funny sight to see.

Well, amazingly, I still have people to call to tell them it's a boy. I hope to take care of that today.

Elijah James Armstrong

It's a boy!
We had our appointment today, and it was pretty clear that the baby has boy bits. Baby is doing great, is healthy, measuring at 22 weeks along (I'm at 21 weeks. They don't change the due date unless it's off by more than 2 weeks), and I'm doing great too. I haven't put on too much weight, and I'm measuring well also. Elijah will be having an echo cardiogram in the next few weeks since his daddy has a heart murmur. No biggie, they just want to play it safe. Of course I'll be back at the doctor in a month for my checkup, so that should make 2 more appointments this month. Now that we know it's a boy, we can start looking at cute little boy outfits.

Mary, from the museum is throwing me a museum baby shower. She's calling it an un-shower, as it won't be very traditional. Unless of course traditional baby showers have men & beer. :) Hey, I don't care what she does, so long as she can get the guys from DMNS to come to my shower. She is requesting we get to Target to register there on top of us registering at Babies R Us. She figures it'll be easier for everyone to get to Target. I'd run right out and do it right now, but I think Geoff likes to go if only to work the scan gun.

That's it from the mommy. Maybe the daddy will post his thoughts.

Oh yeah, everyone was very excited to hear it's a boy. It was great to call my family at work and tell them. They were so surprised to get a long distance call at work.
