Baby Traveler
Elijah's passport arrived last week, and Geoff had to find out how to sign it for him. He took care of that, now we just need to get a letter notarized that will let me travel with Elijah without Geoff. Air Canada has some guidelines for the letter on their website, so we'll start there. Please pray that Geoff's passport gets processed quickly so he'll be able to join us on the trip.
Elijah continues to do well with feeding and sleeping. He's even napping a little during the day. Yay!

Sleep Patterns 2
Well, I'm sure I will jinx things by saying this but...
Elijah is now sleeping for 7 hours or so at night. He has his last feeding at 8pm, and he'll sleep until about 4 or 5am. This has been such a good thing. He still wants to be up by 6 or 7am, but how can we complain when we're getting that big stretch of sleep?
He's taken to the bottled formula really well. Too well. He's less interested in his regular feeding, so we may have to switch that to bottles too. Trouble is I don't have time to pump. So we'll fight this out as long as we can.
I took a short video with our digital camera last week. I was trying to get Elijah to smile on camera. It won't stay posted long, because I don't want to take up too much space. There is no sound, our camera doesn't do that. Here it is.

2 Month Check-Up
Well, Elijah went to the doctor today, and we found that he isn't putting on as much weight as they would like. So we're going to supplement his feedings with some formula. In 2 weeks we'll go back for a weight check. But other than that, he's doing well. He got 4 shots today, which he didn't like. I wouldn't like getting 4 shots in my legs either.

Sleep Patterns
Well, it's been maybe a week, but Elijah seems to have a sleep pattern. I usually feed him about 8pm, and he's usually asleep by 9-9:30. He'll sleep until 1:30 or 2am. Then back to sleep anytime between 2:30 and 3am. He's up again between 5-6 and I comfort him and get him to sleep for maybe another hour, then he's up until 9. So that's what kind of sleep we're getting at night. He dozes a lot during the day while I'm holding him, but if I try to put him down he'll only nap for 30 minutes to an hour.
He's smiling a lot more, and during the day I can get him to hang out by himself on his blanket for at least 20 minutes. He is still fussy in the evening. He has his 2 month checkup on Monday, so we'll be talking to Dr. Perry about any questions we have.

Oh My
The last few days have been a roller coaster of good nights, bad nights. we usually get one good night every few days, but then we suffer through a series of bad nights. His tummy troubles seem to be getting better. But he goes through these phases where he will only sleep for 30-60 minutes at a time. He is feeding on a 4-5 hour schedule which is great.
He got an invitation in the mail to go to a birthday party this Saturday. I'm a little nervous about the prospect. I can never be sure how he'll be. He may be happy to just be, or he may be the screaming baby who can't be appeased. I think we'll go, even though it's an hour drive out there. It'll give Daddy time to do his own thing (run, clean the house, watch kung-fu).
