Survived

Elijah did great at the babysitter's house on Saturday. They played and he fell asleep a half hour before we got back to get him. Geoff warned her that he will spit up on her the minute she doesn't have a blanket handy, and he didn't make a liar out of Daddy. Her daughter didn't mind having him around, which encourages them about their plans to expand their family. I thought I might cry when I had leave him, but I didn't. It made house hunting much easier to not have him there, and since they didn't mind watching him, we may yet go out on a date in the future. :)

I'm hoping to move Elijah onto oat cereal next week, as he is still doing great with rice. He's not sleeping so great, but it is getting better. I still think it is the weather, as he is eating a lot, so I don't think it's hunger waking him up. He has his 6 month appointment on Tuesday, so that may be the next post.

Babysitter

Besides my mom when he was just a week old, Elijah has never been left with a babysitter. He goes in the nursery at church, but we're there to swoop in if needed. Saturday afternoon he will be going over to our friends Dave & Jayla's place while we go house hunting. They have a daughter who will be 2 in November, and are thinking about expanding their family. I'm a little concerned he may scare them off this idea. :) I'm sure it will be interesting for everybody.

Elijah is eating cereal twice a day now, and was sleeping really well for about a week. I blame the return of the warm weather for the return of his frequent wakings. Can't it be Fall yet? His hair is also growing in nicely, he isn't the bald baby he used to be. This has put a bit of a damper on my plans to dress him as Friar Tuck for Halloween. I may still do so, but I'm also thinking of alternatives.

He makes the funniest faces, looking a little like a platypus when he sucks in his bottom lip. He laughs when I make elephant noises, and when Daddy does anything with him.

Doing Great

Elijah has been doing pretty well the last little while. He's settled back into sleeping through the night (waking at 5ish), except this morning he slept until 7. Tell me there is no God! Can I get an Amen? :)

He's quite the roller, you have to be watching him all the time. Yes, that's him reaching for daddy's shoe. Which was smelly because he just got back from a run. We need a bigger place!

This weekend we were listening to some jazz, and dancing with Elijah. Here's a picture of my boys.

My Chunky Monkey

Today I took Elijah in to get weighed, and as the pictures have been showing you, he is indeed putting on weight. He is currently 14 lbs 10 oz. That's almost 2 lbs in the last month. Mommy is so proud!

He started eating rice cereal this week. He seems to like it, at least he enjoys being fed. He is eager to feed himself though. Here are the pictures.

5 Months Old

Yesterday Elijah turned 5 months old. And as a gift, he only woke a few times last night (at 1:30am, 5am, 6am, 7:20am). Aw, and I didn't get him anything. :) It's been nice to have 2 nights of better sleep. Tomorrow we will introduce him to rice cereal! We even bought little baby spoons at Safeway today. I'm hoping to take him in to get weighed this week, so I'll let you know where he's at and how he likes the cereal.

He moved into size 2 diapers almost two weeks ago, and it looks like he'll be in size 3 before September easily. I'm trying to get him into his 3-6mo old clothes before he outgrows them, but I have begun to move him into some 6 month old outfits. If you got him one, chances are I'll take a pic of him in it and send it to you. Please be patient though. It has been so hot here, he rarely wears more than his diaper.

Sleep Patterns 5

Sigh. Big step back. Somehow Elijah has gotten WAY too attached to his sucky, and won't sleep without it. He's waking every hour, missing it. So, do we give him it to buy ourselves another hour, or do we test a bunch of other ideas to get him to return to sleeping longer stretches? Who knows! He is napping 3 short naps a day though.

Elijah is spending most of his time on his tummy now. You put him down, he rolls over. We're happy he is starting to use his arms more. He also enjoys playing in his saucer, he likes peek-a-boo, and enjoys making a raspberry sound with his lips.

You can see in this picture he has discovered his feet. He grabs them all the time, especially when I'm trying to change him.
